Hailey Bieber's "Sugar Plum Fairy" Look Is My Winter Inspo, so I Re-Created It

At this point, I'm pretty sure Hailey Bieber has influenced me more than any other celebrity (save for the other queen of TikTok, Sofia Richie Grainge). I'm constantly trying her favorite products and re-creating her makeup looks. Whether it's the product she uses to get a perfect slicked-back bun or the vitamin C serum she swears by, I'm going to try it out for myself.

My most recent Bieber-influenced obsession is "Sugar Plum Fairy" makeup. This is the term she coined for a certain pink, shimmery makeup look she created on TikTok. Ever since I first saw it, I've been hooked. To me, it's a fresh and unexpected take on holiday makeup.

That's right. This year, instead of going with classic makeup elements like gold glitter and red lipstick, I'm choosing to go the Nutcracker route. Shimmery pink eye shadow, frosty rose-gold highlighter, and a shiny lip gloss will make me look like I came out of a Tchaikovsky dreamland. It's only right that I end the year of balletcore beauty in this way. My Take on the "Sugar Plum Fairy" Makeup Look

Here's my humble take on the "Sugar Plum Fairy" makeup look. I took Bieber's lead and opted for all the pink and shimmery products I could find, concentrating the color on my cheeks, eyelids, and lips. My goal was to look doll-like without looking too over-the-top.

I used 11 products to re-create the look. Keep scrolling to see them all.

Bieber didn't use any foundation in her TikTok video, but I have redness and sun damage, so I did. I reached for my favorite foundation of all time (and I don't say that lightly). It has an incredibly lightweight feel that's virtually undetectable on the skin, yet it provides medium coverage with a dewy finish. I only use a dime-size amount, but every time I wear it, I get compliments.

Then it was time to conceal my dark circles and the redness around my nose. I used this self-setting concealer from Hourglass. It gives me natural-looking coverage with a velvety matte finish, which is why I count it among my favorite concealers

Bieber didn't appear to use contour either, but I'm not as sculpted as her, so this was another product I decided to add to the mix. Since this makeup look is intended to be youthful and doll-like, I didn't use a lot. I just swiped a little down either side of my nose and under each cheekbone for subtle definition.

If there was one product that really made me feel like a Sugar Plum Fairy, it was this one. Even though bubblegum pink might look shocking in the pan, it looks incredible on the skin—think vibrant and youthful. I dusted it across my cheekbones and on my eyelids for a wash of monochromatic color.

I didn't have a freckle pen handy, so instead, I used this brown liquid liner. I simply dotted it carefully onto my nose and cheeks and then quickly pressed and blotted the spots using my fingers to create a natural-looking freckle effect.

Next, I concentrated this eye shadow stick on my lash line for an even more fairy-like shimmer. It's incredibly smooth and creamy and comes in a variety of shades, which is why I think it's underrated.

Since Bieber's Sugar Plum Fairy makeup is super shimmery, I took this highlighter and applied it basically everywhere—my cheekbones, my brow bones, my eyelids, my nose, and my Cupid's bow. It creates a soft lit-from-within radiance that I think is perfect for this kind of look.

The easiest way to look doe-eyed and doll-like is to concentrate on long, fluttery lashes, so that's what I did. I used this budget-friendly lengthening mascara, and instead of wiggling the brush at the root of my lashes like I normally do, I applied it in long, even strokes for lift and separation.

Editor's Note: I also like Tarte's Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara ($25) for this look because it lengthens and defines my lashes with inky pigment without adding too much volume.

Bieber's brows are always brushed up and defined, so I knew mine needed a little work. I didn't go for an eyebrow pencil or pomade. I just reached for this brow gel that creates a laminated effect. It's a staple in my makeup bag.

In her TikTok video, Bieber lines her lips with a rosy-brown pencil before going over the top with gloss. To me, it looks a lot like MAC's Lip Pencil in Spice, so that's the one I used. I hadn't used it in a while, and I almost forgot how flattering it is.

The final step was to apply a gloss. Of course, Bieber uses Rhode's Peptide Lip Tint. It appeared as if she used the newest shade, Jelly Bean ($16), which is a shimmery pink. I opted for the shade Ribbon instead, which is a sheer pink. It's the one I happened to have nearby, and I have to say I love it. I've been using it nonstop ever since it launched. Not only is it hydrating, but it also gives my lips the most subtle wash of color that's perfect for everyday wear.
