Amid all of the new intentions and excitement that comes with a new year, if your jean outfits are suddenly feeling lackluster, you're not alone. It's almost as if when the clock struck 12 on Dec. 31, *poof* every basic I used to think looked great with my favorite jeans could not be more boring. My white t-shirts all seem dingy, my ballet flats are tired, and I don't think I can wear the hoop earrings I've worn for years one more time. It's time to spice it up. Not too spicy though (heartburn), just a little something to make me feel cute again the next time I throw on my trusty Levi's.

To me, this means I need a basics upgrade; something a degree above my usual go-to items. Luckily, I've had no shortage of inspiration as there are already a handful of trends making their way into ready to wear that can easily take my 2023 era denim into 2024. For the full scoop, keep reading. I can assure you, you won't be sorry!

A preppy, collegiate-inspired top (preferably cable-knit) feels especially fresh when paired with low-slung, baggy jeans.

Consider trading in your usual heels for a sky-high, patent slingback a la Saint Laurent's viral 'Lee' stilettos. Outfitting them with a lighter-wash, straight leg jeans ensures you'll never look too formal.

Is it 2024 or...1986? While the oversized, strong-shouldered blazers popping up on our IG feeds might have me guessing, they're sure a dramatic (and fun) alternative to your standard tailored versions.

A statement scarf in a bold print is one of the easiest ways to dress up your denim. I love how Lena paired hers with a cuffed jean for a laid-back feel.
