While it’s the ideal that every day allows for plenty of time to slowly start the day, thoughtfully pulling pieces out of the closet with a latte or glass of champagne in hand, often that’s just not the reality. Personally, I always find myself scrambling at the last minute to get out of the door, pulling clothes on in a whirlwind of fabric, and hoping it all comes together. In the spirit of resolving to make things a bit easier for myself, I’ve found that having a few simple outfit combinations on hand can help unfluster me when I’m in a rush. Whether I’m heading to a work meeting or simply running late to dinner with friends, sifting through a handful of no-fail outfit combinations means I can throw something stylish together in 60-seconds flat.

Ahead, I’ve broken down six of my favorite quick ensembles. Going for a streamlined monochromatic look, or simply updating a basic combo with an unexpectedly elegant twist have become signatures in my repertoire, and I think you’ll find them handy too. You may even have these items already in your closet, ready to be paired, but if not, feel free to pick out some additional styles to update your lineup.

Once you’ve queued up the outfit you want to create, set a timer for 60 seconds, and see how quickly you can pull it together.

When you're short on time to be inspired, lean into a streamlined all-black look. There's no worrying over if things will go together, they just work. Finishing the look off with a cool coat or jacket like a brown leather moto style will give the look a touch of trendiness without any fuss.

Not all dresses are created equal. When you're rushing out the door but need a look that feels elegant, reach for a flowy long dress that you can style with a pair of flats or heels. It's a one-and-done option that looks so put together.

This off-the-shoulder style looks so stylish.

Throw on a piece of jewelry to dress things up.

For days when you're running errands but want a look that's something more than your usual sweats, try mixing and matching your usual comfy staples with more fashion-forward pieces like a plaid skirt and bold sneakers. It's a low-lift swap that makes a big difference.

Jeans and a tee are a casual everyday combo that's so easy to throw on. But, you can give your look a fun twist by swapping sneakers for a dressy pair of shoes like loafers. It's a cool combo that gives your look a whole new vibe.

A rugby shirt is an of-the-moment piece.

High-waisted jeans you'll reach for every day.

A fully white look is an easy option when you want to look pulled-together. You can mix materials to add some texture to your look. Finish with a bold pop of color, whether it's via a pair of shoes or a scarf.

You'll wear this blazer year round.

Layered neutrals and a pair of blue jeans are an easy pairing to create a purposeful look. Choose relaxed denim and contrast it with a pair of polished shoes and a tailored coat. A tee and a sweater are a timeless layering combo.

Heels for work or dressy occasions.
