The 2022 Anti-Trend Pieces I'm Ditching for Their 2023 Replacements

@deborabrosaI am in the midst of updating my closet this season, which just so happens to be filled with a plethora of anti-trend pieces. With my serious dedication to classic style, I can’t help but reach for effortless options each season that can (for the most part) stand the test of time. My goal is always to put together a set of key staples that I know I will wear over and over again. Even so, it feels like it’s time to store, sell, or donate, some old staples to make room for fresh additions.
In most of these cases, I am looking to make the simplest of updates. For instance, I have been a huge fan of the boxy oversize blazer for some time now, but lately, I am craving a more tailored blazer that cinches in right at the waist. In the skirt department, I am taking a break from midi lengths to wear ankle-grazing maxi styles inspired by ’90s throwbacks. Keep scrolling to check out four anti-trend favorites that have served me well and what I am swapping them out for this season.

Swap For: Moto Boots

@pernilleteisbaekThis year, I see myself living in a great pair of moto boots with harness details thanks to spotting fashion muses like Pernille Teisbaek in the style.
These cool boots are a great alternative to the Miu Miu version.
I'd wear these over-the-knee boots with everything from jeans to dresses.
If you want a moto boot with a heel, this is your best bet.
The square toe of these boots give them a downtown, cool vibe.

@dadouchicWhen it comes to blazers, I have my sights set on a cinched-waist style like Rose's above. The tailored look feels super elevated and polished.
Here's a great cinched-waist blazer option that's under $100.
Pinstripe blazers always add a sophisticated touch.
I'm getting '80s vibes from this standout pick.

Swap For: Relaxed Jeans

@smythsistersRelaxed jeans are at the forefront of denim trends at the moment. The roomy style lends a casual-cool feel to any outfit.
This slouchy denim is great for getting Marianne's look above.
Here's a baggy take on the straight-leg jean.
There's something fun and cool about these super-cuffed jeans.
The darker wash of this denim makes for a more elevated look.
These jeans run a little long, which is ideal for taller people.
Store: Midi Skirts
Swap For: Maxi Skirts

@deborabrosaIn the spirit of my ongoing love for classic '90s style, I couldn't pass up the latest selections of stylish maxi skirts. My go-to pick is always black.
