I'm a Senior Fashion Editor and a Cool Mom—Here's My Secret to a Chill Morning

It has taken me nearly 16 years to master my morning routine. 16! I don't even remember who I was when I first started this journey, but here we are, and I can say with my entire being that I'm officially a morning person. I'm also nosy and want to know about every other person's early-morning habits. Luckily, Who What Wear's senior fashion editor and very chic mother of two, Judith Jones, is appeasing me. "Prepping as much as I can the night before helps make mornings go a little more smoothly, even if it's just prepping my outfit for work and packing my tote bag," Jones tells me. "These might seem like small things, but they save time and take some of the extra stress out of busy mornings." Here, Jones is taking us through what a typical morning looks like for her, from the Olly supplements that kick-start her day to the skincare she finds so therapeutic.
"I get an average of six to seven hours of sleep a night. This can be disrupted if my baby, Poppy-Grey, wakes up in the middle of the night. I used to sleep for close to nine hours pre-kids, but my body has adjusted to sleep less. Nowadays, I wake up at around 6 a.m. and take my supplements. I like to take the Olly Hello Happy Gummy Worms ($20), which contain vitamin D and saffron and have powerful mood-balancing properties. These give me the mood boost I need in the morning to tackle what's ahead. They also taste great—they're a lively blend of pineapple, peach, and orange. I never used to take many supplements, to be honest, but since I took prenatal vitamins throughout both of my pregnancies, I've now gotten into the habit of taking vitamins regularly—and I do feel much better because of it."
"I would absolutely love to wake up before the kids—I know having that moment to myself would make all the difference in my day, but it's not always an easy feat if I've stayed up late watching a show (to get a little "me" time) or if the baby wakes up very early. It's something I try to do when I can. Regardless, I always try to get a little movement in, whether it's a morning stretch or yoga at home while the kids are playing—I always feel better if I've moved a bit."
"I can't live without my British tea in the morning. After I enjoy a cup, at around 7:15 a.m., I prep breakfast and we eat as a family. Then, I prepare Jasper's school lunch and snacks. I always pack the Olly Kids Multi Gummy Worms ($14) in his lunch box. He absolutely loves the taste, and it's the first thing he asks me for in the morning! It's an easy way to get his daily vitamins and minerals in and help fill in any nutritional gaps, especially if he's had a not-so-great day of eating. I like the fact that he's getting his dose of A, C, D, E, and B vitamins and Zinc to promote overall wellness—something every mom wants when kids are so prone to getting colds."
"Next, I get myself ready for the day. My skincare routine is pretty simple. I'll cleanse with the Eve Lom Cleanser ($80). I find washing with the brand's muslin cloth very therapeutic. I'll follow that with a brightening serum—Caudalíe's Vinoperfect Dark Spot Serum ($79) is one of my favorites—and I'll finish with La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream ($200). In terms of my outfits, they need to strike the perfect balance of practical and stylish. For me, this usually means a staple straight-leg or wide-leg pair of jeans worn with a chic, oversize button-down. I may add a blazer or overcoat and layer a sweater over that. I'll either wear a kitten heel or chic flats like classic loafers. I will always choose comfortable shoes (that are also stylish), especially if I need to run around after my kids."
"At around 8:45 a.m., I take Jasper to school, and either my nanny or I put down Poppy-Grey for her morning nap. When I can, I like to walk him to school. The fresh air helps clear my mind."
"I don't really have too much time to think about switching from mom mode to work mode. I often like to take a quick walk to my local cafe after dropping Jasper off at school so I can get my caffeine fix and have a moment to shake off any challenges I might have had in the morning. I find breaking up the morning with a quick walk and coffee makes me feel less frazzled and allows me to do something for myself, even if it's a very small thing. Before I start work, I've been taking the Olly Ultra Strength Brain Softgels ($25), which support mental acuity, memory, and a healthy brain. I've found they help with my overall concentration and focus, especially when I really need to get into work mode after a rough night."
