As a fashion editor, I'm a bit ashamed to admit that my airport style likens to that of someone planning to spend the day on the couch, bingeing Netflix, and eating takeout. While athleisure has made its mark and is here to stay, there's a difference between climbing on a plane wearing sleek, comfortable pieces and climbing on a plane wearing oversize sweats with your high school mascot on them. Since I moved from the East Coast to the West, I've done my fair share of traveling back and forth, and my resolution this year was to find a balance between comfort and fashion when hitting the airport (and in my everyday life). Thankfully, Free People has a slew of viable options that still manage to look pulled together, without feeling restricting or uncomfortable. The best part? There's not a sweatpant or legging in sight. Scroll to shop some of the looks I'm pairing with my passport ASAP.

This comfy two-piece set feels like you're wearing an oversize blanket but looks like you really put in the effort.

The low heel makes these shoes comfortable for running between terminals, and the print makes them more interesting than your typical off-duty boots.

I'm trading my go-to baseball cap for this fashion-forward accessory.

I want to purchase this oversize number in all eight colors.

You'd be hard-pressed to find someone in our office who doesn't own these classic, comfortable boots in black, but the taupe shade feels fresh and unexpected.

I'm not a fan of wearing makeup when I fly as it tends to cause breakouts; instead, I'll be wearing these stylish, square-frame sunnies to deflect from any dark circles.

The best part about this head-turning coat? It adds a punch to a simple jeans-and-tee combo that makes you look like you tried when you didn't.

Forget bulky outerwear, and wear this chunky knit sweater to stay warm during your travels. Bonus points if you buy it in this of-the-moment color.

Workout tee: sloppy. Band tee: edgy and stylish.

While I tend to rock a scrunchie (they've made a comeback!) to keep my hair out of my face, this seems like a more elevated option.

If I do wear sneakers, I vow to don something this head-turning.

I can't get enough of this breathable linen jumpsuit.

The easiest way to quickly access your boarding pass, passport, and plane snacks.

The wide-leg cut of these pants offers less restriction than your typical skinny jeans but is just as chic.

I'm packing this oversize, slouchy cardigan in my carry-on as the perfect layering option.

One of my biggest travel pet peeves is an ill-fitting outfit that I'm constantly readjusting. This lightweight bodysuit will stay put and feel seamless throughout your whole trip.
