The 2022 Trend That Had the Most Impact, According to Experts

With the end of the year coming to a close, all eyes are on fashion analysts to determine what's in store in 2023. While there are a few standout trends we're already covering at Who What Wear, the best way to embrace the future is to look at the past. Case in point? Lyst's 2022 end-of-year fashion report is here.

Every year, the retailer pulls together a team of experts to analyze some of fashion's most buzzy moments, using search traffic and purchasing data. This year, Lyst reported things like the hottest brand, logo, trend, and item of the year. To the surprise of no one, there was one trend that stood the test of time: Barbiecore.

Thanks to Valentino's signature PP Pink donned by celebrities like Anne Hathaway and Florence Pugh, fashion people became obsessed with the bright hue this year. During Paris Fashion Week, the Italian house debuted an all-pink collection for its fall/winter 2022 presentation, leading in a surge of searches. Of course, there's also Greta Gerwig's Barbie starring Margot Robie and Ryan Gosling, which no doubt made an impact in the trend's doll-inspired name.
