With much of the world returning to work IRL, the corporate look is having a moment, be it in the form of pinstripe suits, pencil skirts, waistcoats, or most trendy right now, neckties. And when it comes to the workwear aesthetic, there's nowhere we trust more than J.Crew, and no one we'd rather garner inspo from than the brand's head designer Olympia Gayot. Luckily, the TikTok-favorite designer just posted her two go-to ways to wear a necktie on Instagram

To celebrate the launch of J.Crew's recent follow-up collaboration with the French shirt brand Marie Marot, Gayot posted a slideshow to her page showcasing not just the collection, but also two easy ways to turn a boring menswear tie into the centerpiece of an outfit. From a casual, Saint Laurent–inspired option to the more refined pussy bow, see how Gayot is styling 2022's easiest and chicest accessory below.

Styling Method #1: Loose Tie

Option one is giving serious Mick Jagger vibes, but with a Hedi-Slimane-by-Saint-Laurent touch. To master it, loop a thin, silky tie through the unbuttoned collar of any semi-fitted poplin shirt and tie it in a knot halfway down. For some added edge, layer it with chain necklaces of various lengths.

Styling Method #2: Pussy Bow

On the opposite end of the styling spectrum is the pussy bow, or lavallière. Worn by everyone from Kate Middleton to school girls at private schools, the style is classic, sophisticated, and as easy as tying a silk tie in a slouchy bow underneath a closed collar.

Holiday season dressing has officially begun.

Looking expensive is as simple as tossing one of these around your neck and tying it in a loose knot.

When in doubt, pick the one with the stripes.

This material is perfect for winter.

My advice? Always choose the Valentino.
