Welcome to Deep Reviewsyour one-stop destination to discover the absolute best products and brands the beauty industry has to offer. The Who What Wear staffers you already know and trust will research, test, and review the market's most sought-after and buzzed-about products to see which formulas (of the hundreds up for consideration) are truly worth your hard-earned money and attention. You can expect honest, completely uncensored feedback and no-BS recommendations our hard-to-please testers endorse without reservations.

The majority of our Deep Reviews will feature our editors' honest, ultra-hot takes on entire product categories or multiple products from a particular beauty brand, but every so often, we'll sprinkle in a special single-product format called Honestly, I Love It. As the name suggests, these reviews will hone in on one standout beauty formula our editors quite literally can't shut up about. This time around, I'm highlighting Lemme Sleep Gummies ($30).

I've always been the kind of friend you can call at 2 a.m. on a weeknight. I'd like to think it's because of my unwavering dedication to all of my friends (that's definitely one of the reasons), but in reality, everyone knows I'm the most likely to be awake at that time. Sleep remains a struggle for me and not in the way that everyone assumes. I actually love sleeping and have never been opposed to beauty rest, but I have a hard time maintaining a sleep schedule. I attribute this to the fact that I'm the most creative (and impulsive) when everyone else is asleep. Some of my best writing and my best purchases have come to life at 3 a.m., and ironically enough, one of those purchases was the Sleep, Melatonin & Magnesium Gummies ($30) from Kourtney Kardashian's latest business venture, Lemme.

As you can imagine, I've tried many sleep supplements in an effort to add some consistency to my sleep habits. But I had yet to find a product that tasted good and gave me the sleepiness without the morning drowsiness—until now. I'm usually apprehensive about celebrity brands, but there's pretty much nothing a TikTok review can't convince me of. So when the Lemme gummies came up on my For You Page twice in one week, I immediately added them to my cart (at around 2:30 a.m., of course), and they were on my doorstep a few days later.

Lemme gummies became an essential part of my nighttime routine on the day they were delivered (in sustainable packaging, might I add). My typical sleep pattern consists of going to bed super late, randomly waking up around 5 a.m., attempting to go back to sleep, and then feeling like I can hardly keep my eyes open when it's finally time to get up for the day. Drowsiness is my number-one enemy—my mornings have been filled with tons of yawns, snoozing alarms, and stretches.

Now that Lemme Sleep is a permanent fixture on my bedside table, my sleeping habits have done a complete 180. The instructions on the bottle say to take two gummies 30 minutes before bed, but I learned after three consecutive days that I need a little bit more time. So I take two gummies about an hour before bed and tend to start yawning about 40 minutes in. My sleep is continuous (no random awakenings in the middle of the night or early hours of the morning), and I feel a lot more well rested when I wake up in the morning. I find myself hitting the snooze button less. (10-year-old me, who dreaded getting ready for school in the morning, would be proud.) I've never been this consistent with a sleep supplement before, and I attribute my newfound consistency to how delicious these gummies are. They're berry flavored and taste just like the fruit snacks I grab at the office.

Among many other things, what I love most about this product is that the list of ingredients is short and easy to digest (no pun intended). Melatonin, magnesium, L-theanine, and a botanical blend are the four main ingredients that are all composed of properties designed to make falling asleep easier and waking up more refreshing. Despite the amazing candy-like taste, Lemme Sleep is not made with any artificial sweeteners, synthetic colors, or high fructose corn syrup. These gummies are vegan, non-GMO, and gluten- and gelatin-free. All of the above makes me so excited to take them every night before I drift off.

Who would you recommend sleep supplements to?

I would recommend sleep support to virtually anyone. Sleep is paramount and incredibly underrated. Sleep is necessary for all bodily systems to function properly and to maintain the delicate balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.

What are the key ingredients to look for in an effective sleep supplement?

Magnesium glycinate: So many supplement companies source from cheaper (aka less absorbable or "bioavailable") forms of the nutrients that we take as vitamins (vitamin C, zinc, B-complexes, etc). As you may notice when you're reading the nutrition-facts label, there are multiple types of magnesium: oxide, citrate, threonate, malate. But the form that I recommend the most to my patients is magnesium glycinate. This form (Mag Gly) is most multifunctional. It has an affinity for the nervous system as it is a smooth muscle relaxant and vasodilator, resulting in decreased blood pressure, a slower heart rate, less anxiety, and decreased muscular tension and cramping while also helping regulate bowel movements in both form and frequency.

L-theanine: This is my number-one favorite sleep-supporting nutrient due to the very fact that it's also an anxiolytic and is the most "fast-acting," calming, organic nutrient that I have come across in my practice.

Vitamin B6: It's a necessary co-factor for the production of certain calming and inhibitory neurotransmitters that help our parasympathetic nervous system take over and let the sympathetic nervous system take a break.

How can you maximize the effect of sleep supplements?

Take sleep supplements at least one hour before you want to be asleep. I say this because that allows your body sufficient time to metabolize, absorb, and assimilate the individual nutrients and get them working within your system.

Are there any key lifestyle changes that impact how well these supplements work?

Proper sleep hygiene, for starters: blackout curtains, noise machines, no WiFi, absolutely no electronics, and cool temps.

Ensure proper daily movement, fresh air, and sunshine.

Stop all work and mindless scrolling at least two hours before ideal sleep time.

What advice would you give to someone who is struggling with sleep supplements or not finding them helpful?

Look into naturopathic medicine and functional testing to get a better picture of daily cortisol output, nutrient levels, hormonal balances, and thyroid function.

Turn off WiFi at dinner time, and leave it off until the a.m.

Acupuncture is my number-one go-to for nervous system–balancing therapies. It has amazing results on calming your nerves and rebalancing your natural flow of qi. Acupuncture can also benefit menses, digestion, urination, and sore muscles and joints all while decreasing your stress levels systemically.
