My Mom and I Live in L.A.—We Think These Elevated Basics Are In

As someone born and raised in L.A., basics are what I live in. Truthfully, I got it from my mom. When I was growing up, her uniform was jeans and t-shirts, oversized sweaters and men's inspired trousers (it was the 90s after all). Of course, there was that blip when we we both fell victim to Juicy tracksuits in the early aughts, but I digress.

When I shop, I look for pieces that feel slightly more special than your run of the mill everyday wear. This means I'll gravitate towards a sweeping maxi skirt as opposed to a mid-length pencil. Or an oversized tote in supple suede or leather because I know the material will wear in a way that'll only make it better with age.
