I Just Spent Two Weeks in L.A.—Here's What I'm Inspired to Buy for Summer

Despite having been born in L.A. and spending the first 25 years of my life there (compared to only the last five in NYC), it didn't take me long to acclimate to style and dressing in a new city. And sure, New York participates in summer, too, but when it's no longer a year-round vibe, you tend to need a refresher every time the season rolls back around.

I recently spent two weeks back home experiencing temperatures I wasn't quite prepared for in May and spending a lot of time observing those around me, and after that, I think my summer shopping list is ready a little earlier than expected this year. Conveniently, this all coincides with Nordstrom's highly anticipated Half-Yearly Sale, so I figured I'd attempt to do all my shopping among the markdowns. I'm proud to say I was able to find it all, from dainty and fun jewelry to laid-back denim to sandals of both the fancy and simple variety to so many dresses. To see what made the cut, simply keep scrolling.

Everyone needs a pair of shorts, and these are perfect.

You can never have enough pairs.

This color has taken over all my wish lists.

This is definitely not another basic white top.

There's a reason it has such great reviews.

You'll never get sick of this classic bag.

Now, you're ready for all those summer events.

An extra pink tank just for good measure.

The leather makes this so much more special.

That knit you'll throw over your shoulders on chillier nights.

Everyone knows I'm a sucker for an initial necklace, and this one is so fun.

If you don't already own this, now is the time.

Staud coming through with that '90s flair.
