It's no secret that celebrities and designers continue to look to the late Princess Diana for fashion inspiration. Just this week, Harry Styles wore a sheep-adorned sweater that was strikingly similar to one the princess wore in 1983. Hailey Bieber has also not been shy about her love for the royal, re-creating her outfits in both magazine shoots and IRL

Lately, I've been noticing a ton of striped rugby shirts on celebrities, runways, and e-commerce sites, leading me to believe we have another Diana-inspired moment on our hands. She wore a rugby shirt at the Chelsea Harbour Health Club in 1997, and it's certainly an iconic off-duty royal outfit. Sure, athletes might lay claim to the sporty staple, but has anyone made it look as chic as Diana did? Some could argue that it's a trend that has never really gone away, but when you see just how many celebs have worn it lately, you might be convinced otherwise.

Something to keep in mind: Many of the best rugby shirts are hiding in the men's section, so don't limit your searches or you'll be missing out. Scroll down to see how celebrities and designers are interpreting the rugby shirt trend, and how Princess Diana wore it 22 years ago.
