Is that you, Carrie Bradshaw? Nope, it's Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a look that would make her Sex and the City character's jaw drop, just as it did ours. SJP stepped out for the New York City Ballet's Fall Fashion Gala last night wearing a showstopping red gown by Giles Deacon Couture. (Fun fact: That's also the designer of Pippa Middleton's wedding dress.) She paired the dress with color-coordinated heels from her namesake shoe line.
With its poofy sleeves and bubble hem, we can't help but think the designer used the '80s as inspiration for the dress, which is fitting since it's a major trend this fall. (Also, it reminded us a bit of her wedding dress for the Sex and the City movie.) That said, the dress's feature that really grabbed our attention was the unique take on the sheer trend.
Sheer (aka naked) dresses are obviously a celebrity favorite, but Parker's take was decidedly subtle. We'd really thought we'd seen every type of sheer dress on the planet, but this one is actually fresh and unique. The dress featured sheer sleeves that attached to frilly cuffs (creating a cool optical illusion) and a sheer back that she dutifully showed off on the red carpet.
