I Zoomed In on Every Spring 2024 Runway Look—10 Jewelry Trends I'm Obsessed With

Everyone at Who What Wear, myself included, has talked at length about the trends we saw on the runways in September, when designers across New York, London, Milan, and Paris debuted their S/S 24 collections for the fashion world to see. One thing we haven't spent a significant amount of time and energy studying is the jewelry they presented along with all those black-cherry jackets, micro co-ords, and overstuffed handbags. Well, I had some free time this week, so I thought I'd fill that void.

In the time that I should have been gift shopping and planning holiday events (and outfits), I instead zoomed in on thousands of runway images from the S/S 24 shows, sorting my earring, necklace, and bracelet findings into trend categories. That way, by the time spring eventually comes around, you won't have to scramble to fill up your jewelry box with up-to-date pieces. My findings? Well, you'll have to read about those below.

The last time that drop, chandelier-style earrings were in style, I wasn't in the right mindset or time in my life to take advantage. When you're wearing gym shorts, tube socks, and Birkenstocks to school every day, adding some chin-length baubles doesn't exactly fit the vibe. But this time around, after spotting the dangly earrings at Tory Burch, Carven, Altuzarra, and Bottega Veneta, I'm determined not to miss my opportunity.

I take comfort in the fact that my obsession with '80s-inspired cuff bracelets doesn't have a cutoff date in sight. After Saint Laurent, Alaïa, and more brands featured them in recent collections, I started buying up cuffs like a horse out the gate, and now that they're guaranteed to still be on trend next spring and summer thanks to those same brands as well as Alexander McQueen, Khaite, and Tom Ford, I'm ready to finally invest in the greatest cuff of all, Elsa Peretti's Bone Cuff. Who's with me?

I have to give credit where credit is due: Matthieu Blazy is the man responsible for this buzzy and bubbly earring trend. After his teardrop-shaped earrings for Bottega Veneta went absolutely viral earlier this year, the blown-up shape became almost impossible to find, causing dozens of dupes to pop up on the market. Luckily, there should be no shortage of styles to choose from for spring after similar-but-different shapes appeared at Valentino, Tory Burch, and Ferragamo.

As someone who's had her cartilage pierced at least five times but always had to take it out for one reason or another, I'm ecstatic that cool brands are finally ready to make no-piercings-needed ear cuffs in standout styles like the ones I spotted at Peter Do, Givenchy, Jil Sander, and Loewe.

Bottega Veneta and Ferragamo have been quietly making colorful baubles chic for a few seasons now, but it wasn't until the spring shows that I started to really see the trend spread to other brand offerings and really make a strong impact. Red, orange, green, and more—prepare to add the colors of the rainbow not just to your closet but to your jewelry box too.

You know that viral TikTok sound of Scarlet Envy from RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars questioning whether she's the drama? Clearly, she was, but she's not the only one. The earrings on the S/S 24 runways—specifically the ones at Brandon Maxwell, Emilia Wickstead, Schiaparelli, and Phillip Lim—were equally dramatic, in size, shape, and color.

Yes, untangling lots of long, layered necklaces can be stressful at the end of the day, but it can also be therapeutic, which is why I'm not at all mad about the resurgence of the boho-chic neck accessories that I saw appear at Burberry, Chanel, Tom Ford, and Carven this season.

I've been talking about brooches for some time now, discussing their potential future in the spotlight thanks in large part to Milan-based fashion darling Jenny Walton. Now that they've made it onto runways across New York, Paris, and Walton's own backyard at Blumarine, Carolina Herrera, Chanel, and Schiaparelli, the retro accessory is destined to make a large-scale comeback.

In case long, bohemian necklaces aren't the vibe you're going for in 2024, perhaps this contrasting style will be right up your alley. Across the spring collections were chokers made of various materials, from collar-like metal options at Peter Do to beaded alts at Carven.

Lost an earring? Can only afford to buy a single one? Normally these would be problems, but not anymore, because after checking out the earring selection for next spring, I'm happy to announce that wearing just one is more than enough. In fact, it's *the* way to wear the jewelry item for the year ahead.
