You've Got Plans, and I've Got Outfits—5 Looks You Can Wear for Summer Events

Welcome to Before I Head Out, a monthly series in which fashion editor Anneliese Dominguez rounds up the snaps she's taken of her favorite outfits before heading out the door of her Los Angeles apartment.

I was recently listening to a podcast that declared this season "the summer of being outside." And listen: I am here for it. The sunshine is fueling me, and I'm booking myself busy. Oh, my favorite artist is putting on an outdoor concert? I'm buying my ticket. A beach day with friends? Count me in. A spontaneous date night at our favorite Malibu restaurant just because the sunset is hitting? Let me grab my purse. And because I'm me, I take my outfits for these summer events very seriously. If you're in the same boat and need some inspiration, keep scrolling to see five very chic (if I do say so myself) 'fits to wear to your next warm-weather outing.

ROOFTOP BRUNCH

If you follow me on IG, you know that maxi skirts are basically all I can talk about these days (especially this one from Free People, which I have in multiple colors). When we think "rooftop brunch," our thoughts typically go to florals and bright colors, but this all-white ensemble feels like a more current, elevated take. I added the crochet layer, yes, because it's on-trend and you never know if the wind is going to make an appearance! The green Brie Leon bag brings the perfect pop of color and makes this look feel even more summery.

OUTDOOR CONCERT

Technically, this isn't my current L.A. apartment, but it's where I used to live before I moved in with my husband. (My old roommates still live there, and it's still just as chic.) I went over there before going to the Sabrina Carpenter (my favorite artist at the moment) concert with my old roommate, and I couldn't have been more obsessed with this look. Carpenter is all about the girly vibes, so I brought out my pink heels and sparkly bag. But she also has a major cool-girl aesthetic, so obviously, the sporty glasses had to make an appearance for a bit of contrast. And this tube top? It's everything. I screamed my heart out to "Nonsense" and had the best night.

ALFRESCO DATE NIGHT

My husband and I love going out to dinner, and this night, we were headed to a super-nice restaurant in Malibu, so we had to pull out our best. I opted for a flowy Free People dress (so I could eat all the things without feeling uncomfortable at dinner) and flat sandals from Ancient Greek Sandals, a favorite of mine at the moment. Colton kept it cool and classic with some Rhude loafers, trousers, and an Acne Studios cardigan.

DAY BY THE WATER

Although we've had more than enough "May gray" days this year, we've also had quite a few sunny days (even if Colton and I have to drive from our Venice apartment to the Soho Warehouse pool in Downtown L.A. to find them). I've been loving this cute bikini from 437—the little bows feels so feminine. I always throw on an easy button-down with my swimwear. I have one in just about every color, and they come in handy. Of course, my new Prada sunnies had to make an appearance. (Yes, I have them in black, but I had to splurge on the white pair.)

Though this outfit is pretty basic, I got so many DMs about these pants I knew I had to give them their moment. I wore this to the office on a day when I knew I was going to run to happy hour after work. It's the perfect 'fit because you can throw on a blazer or bomber jacket if you need something with a bit more coverage while you're in a meeting. The addition of the Zara belt and two-toned watch elevates this simple outfit so easily.
