The Denim Trends We're Still Wearing 10 Years Later

When it comes to our most beloved denim, there are some pieces in our closets that are older than we'd like to admit. We can't let them go because they either fit perfectly or they give us all the feels. Call us sentimental, but if our jeans could talk, they'd have some epic tales to tell.

And unlike other fast-fashion pieces, denim trends have a much longer shelf life—especially when they come from a trusted mainstay like J Brand. Since its inception, the company has been one of the leaders in the denim trend space (remember the Houlihan?). For this reason, we couldn't think of a better brand to include in our 10-year anniversary celebration.

In honor of this milestone, we've created an experiential fashion time capsule of the top celeb and runway trends of the last decade. J Brand is hosting a special gallery within the space that highlights the most beloved denim trends of the era. Want to see what they are? We've rounded them up below, along with a few more recent trends that we see ourselves wearing for years to come.

Without further ado, scroll through for the most enduring denim trends since 2006, and if you don't have them yet, shop some picks that have stood the test of time.

Flares

Flared jeans were incredibly popular earlier on in the decade, and they became relevant again with the '70s revival trend of the past few seasons.

J Brand's Love Story has been one of the go-to flare styles for bloggers and celebs alike. Not sure how to style them? Try this clean blue pair with platforms and a crew-neck sweater for the perfect fall look.

Deconstructed denim

If you're anything like us, deconstructed denim has been a staple in your wardrobe for as long as you can remember. These are the ultimate off-duty jeans; wear them with a tee, cardigan, and ankle boots, and you're good to go. Looking for a more polished look? Try a blazer and pumps instead.

Simple, clean, and chic. These are so easy to wear.

Skinnies

Do we even need to introduce skinny jeans? While looser finds have replaced this style as the most on-trend silhouette, skinny jeans have become a classic staple that will never go out of style.

Black skinnies: THE model-off-duty jeans of choice.

High-Rise styles

Ah, yes—high-rise denim. We praise this style as one of the most flattering denim silhouettes ever

Without a doubt, J Brand's Maria is one of the go-tos within this category.

boyfriend jeans

One of the most controversial denim trends over the years because of its undone, slightly masculine appeal, boyfriend jeans still remain one of our all-time favorites. Plus, we love the recent offshoots of this silhouette, including straight cropped styles and mom jeans.

This style is a modern take on the trend, with its high rise and straight fit.

Culottes

Culottes are a high-fashion favorite for a reason. Try them with a printed button-down and trench for an incredibly polished look.

We love the wash and frayed hems on this sleek pair.

step-hem jeans

Step-hem jeans—jeans with raw hems that are shorter in the front and longer in the back—have become increasingly popular as of late. We're fans of this style because it looks exceptionally effortless.

If you're new to this trend, try it in a classic dark wash.

cropped flares

Cropped flares have practically replaced skinnies as fashion girls' favorite denim trend. You can spot them all over the Who What Wear offices too.

Corduroy cropped flares? Yes, please. Create a fresh monochromatic look with a simple sweater and sneakers. Winter white has never looked so good.
