Whether we like it or not, winter is just around the corner. Long gone are the days of spritzes and sundresses. It's time to pull out our scarves and sweaters and start planning for the holidays. Every winter I take stock of my outerwear collection, and this season, I have to admit mine needed a bit of a revamp. After purging my closet of the outerwear that no longer served me, it became time for the fun stuff: shopping for new clothes. Coats and jackets can be pricey, so I wanted to make sure I was focusing on buys that fit under a $150 budget. Shopbop, H&M, Nordstrom and Zara came to the rescue with tons of super-chic options that were surprisingly affordable.

From ultra cozy faux furs to sleek leather trenches, I found 30 chic coats for winter I can't wait to wear. Keep scrolling to see which made the cut.

I can't get enough of scarf coats. I love this affordable option from Zara.

I have this jacket, and trust me—it looks so chic in person.

Something about a white double-breasted coat that just feels expensive.

Time to swap your old puffer for this new one from Zara.

Running to get my hands on this one.

I don't know what I would do without my black double-breasted coat—it's so classic and chic.

A gray double-breasted coat always feels so elevated to me.

This teddy fleece is so good. I have my eye on it for an upcoming trip.

Perfect to wear to the office.

Oh, absolutely yes to this fluffy coat.

I can't get over this water resistant faux-leather puffer.

This coat looks like it belongs in the closet of a chic Brit.

This is called the Dad Coat for a reason. (My dad actually has two or three coats like this.)

This comes in black too, but I have a thing for the ivory.

A faux-leather trench feels so NYC to me.

I'm super into this herringbone-printed jacket. I think I need it.

An easy fleece is always good to have in your outerwear rotation.

This jacket has major cool factor.

This puffer comes in so many colors, but the white just feels the most elevated to me.

I could see myself wearing this jacket 24/7.

The perfect shacket for layering.
