Our Editors Share Their Favorite Looks From the 2024 Award Season So Far

With the 2024 award season underway, we're already seeing some truly *incredible* looks from film and television stars alike on the red carpet. From Hunter Schafer's ethereal Prada dress straight from the runway to Rosamund Pike's veiled look, some of the biggest names in Hollywood certainly aren't holding back.

For the latest episode of Who What Wear With Hillary Kerr, Kat Collings, WWW's editor in chief, sits down with Erin Fitzpatrick, WWW's associate director of fashion news, to discuss some of their favorite looks from the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, and more. Plus, Collings and Fitzpatrick share their predictions for what film's biggest stars will wear on the biggest red carpet of award season—the Oscars.

Kat Collings: I know you attended the Golden Globes a few weeks ago, so let's do a recap of what we've seen and how you think the looks will evolve throughout the award season.

Erin Fitzpatrick: One of my favorites was Rosamund Pike at the Golden Globes. She was wearing a black lace Dior dress with a veil by Philip Treacy, who, by the way, does a lot of Kate Middleton's hats. No one wears fancy hats and headpieces more often than royals. I love that extra veil element. She's working with the stylist Leith Clark, so I'm really excited to see what else Rosamund Pike will be wearing for the Oscars in March.

I also really loved Hunter Schafer's Prada look. … It's just really smart to get the fashion points. That was a look that, on the Prada runway, people were just freaking out over it because the garment moves with any sort of breeze. It's very ethereal and lovely and is like [the] main character in its own right.

I also think Barry Keoghan from Saltburn. He wore Louis Vuitton, a red suit. He wore a pearl earring—just one earring—and a necklace and a brooch. It was the full fashion look. I think he's really somebody I'm super excited to see what he'll wear because he seems really down for anything and willing to wear "fashion with a capital F" kind of things.

The next was the Critics Choice Awards. We had Greta Lee's notable Loewe look that came straight from the S/S 24 menswear runway, actually. Then we had Ayo Edebiri's incredible suit from The Row, which I think was unanimously loved. I personally think the Golden Globes came in a little hotter, but people really came through also for the Critics Choice. Did you have any favorite looks from that carpet?

I did. I don't know if you saw Colman Domingo. He's someone who's newly on my radar. I know he was in Euphoria, but I actually haven't watched Euphoria. I'm the only one. I've been noticing him based on his style, and he's styled by Wayman + Micah—who I believe have been on the pod—and he wore this amazing gold Valentino coat thrown over his shoulders kind of like a cape. The coat had a purple lining, and he wore it with this mustard-yellow suit. It's just another example of the guys really going for it in the fashion department, and I really appreciate that.

Now that we've had a few carpets to start the year, the Grammys are the next big one right around the corner. What are we expecting to see there?

It will be a totally different set of people, obviously, because it's music and not film and TV. We'll have some crossover, like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, hopefully. What I'm hoping for for traffic purposes in my job is a Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce moment.

The rest of the award season, we have the SAG Awards and the big cap on it all—the Oscars. Any predictions or thoughts on what we might see there?

SAG Awards is both TV and film. The Oscars, of course, are only film, which is a little unfortunate because you think of the Oscars as the biggest of the season. But we won't get the TV stars like Ayo [Edebiri] or Elizabeth Olsen, but we will see all of them at the SAG Awards, hopefully. The Oscars are definitely the most prestigious. I Google fact-checked that it is the most watched of the award shows. When you have all those eyeballs on you, it totally makes sense that you might want to play it safe a little bit more—appeal a little more to the masses and less to the fashion crowd. The Oscars are a little bit safer looks.
